Des nouvelles de mes lithops

Remember the lithops from the Chabasaï Experiment ? All seeds were sown on april 16th, 2011. The hot days of summer are gone and they show signs of new growth. Here are some interesting updates. First see Lithops dorotheae F357 :

The next 2 pictures are Lithops bromfieldii var insularis ssp 'Sulphurea'. Few survived from the evil fungus invasion, but the survivors look strong and healthy.

The one on the upper corner has a strange way of changing skin !

Next are the pictures of Lithops fulviceps C266. They are a real success.

You can see 2 of them that have already changed skin and now show the real pattern, even though they are still really small.

  1. they look great! congratulations :)

i've had troubles with my newest lithops seedlings because of the heat. note to self: do not sow in summer in the future...

  2. The heat stopped my seedlings in their early months, making it difficult to water them enough but not too much (they are more vulnerable to overwatering during dormancy). I am starting a new batch of seedlings soon, in a finer chabasaï mix. I found that even if the coarser mix works, many seedlings "fell" in between stones and died.
